KAPSOM’s patent for the “Improved Small-scale Ammonia Synthesis Plant” has recently been granted by the China National Intellectual Property Administration, under patent number ZL 2023 2 3213870.0.
The ammonia synthesis process is a core technology in the chemical industry, widely used in the production of fertilizers and industrial gases. In traditional ammonia synthesis processes, the recycle gas compressor plays a critical role, primarily used for compressing and recycling the gas after the reaction. However, conventional recycle gas compressors face challenges such as high energy consumption, high maintenance costs, and complex operation, which significantly constrain the efficiency and economic viability of ammonia production.
To address these challenges, the KAPSOM R&D team has innovatively developed an improved small-scale ammonia synthesis device. This device optimizes the design by connecting the reactor’s inlet with the ejector’s outlet and sequentially processing the reacted gas through a heat exchanger, cold exchanger, and ammonia cooler, achieving efficient energy recovery and heat management. Through precise process design and component selection, the device significantly reduces equipment investment and maintenance costs. Additionally, by thoroughly mixing fresh feed gas with recycled reacted gas, it notably enhances the conversion rate and selectivity of the ammonia synthesis reaction.
