Since July 17, Henan has been struck by extreme heavy rainfall, leading to a severe flood situation. The torrential rains have put the lives and property of local residents at significant risk, causing a halt in local production and daily activities. The region urgently requires rescue efforts as the disaster has deeply affected millions of Chinese citizens.
KAPSOM has promptly contacted the relevant authorities in Henan to discuss donation arrangements. After assessment, we have decided to provide assistance to Xunxian County in Hebi City, which has been severely affected by the disaster. Xunxian, a historic city with over a thousand years of history located in the northeastern part of Henan, has traditionally been a granary. However, with the arrival of the floods, six out of the seven towns in Xunxian have been inundated, nearly 800,000 acres of farmland have turned into swamps, and countless poultry and livestock have drowned. More than 90% of the county’s over 600,000 residents have been affected by the disaster.
With the assistance of flood relief supply vendors, we arranged for a van to urgently deliver supplies to Xunxian County. On July 30, a shipment of 60 packages of food and other flood relief materials, carrying the deep concern and sincere support of all KAPSOM staff, departed from Nanjing en route to Henan.
