KAPSOM Powers the Launch of World’s First Industrial-Scale e-Methanol Project

The world’s first commercial e-methanol production project has officially launched in Denmark, marking a milestone in industrial-scale production. As one of the core equipment suppliers, KAPSOM completed the design and manufacturing of the project’s critical systems within just ten months, providing essential support and ensuring the project’s successful operation.

E-Methanol is a form of green methanol produced from renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power. It is synthesized through the electrolysis of water to generate hydrogen, which is then combined with captured or biogenic CO₂ in the presence of a catalyst. Unlike conventional methods, e-Methanol enables the recycling of CO₂ during both production and use, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels. This innovative approach represents a critical pathway toward sustainable energy transition and carbon emission reduction.

This successful large-scale production demonstrates the immense potential of e-Methanol in replacing fossil fuels and driving industrial decarbonization. It also marks a significant leap from laboratory research to industrial-scale production, providing a replicable commercial model for global energy transition. “This proves that Power-to-X offers a practical, scalable solution to decarbonise industries that cannot rely on direct electrification.” said Emil Vikjær-Andresen, Executive Vice President and Head of Power-to-X of European Energy, in a media interview.

As a core equipment supplier, KAPSOM has played a pivotal role in this globally significant green methanol project. This achievement marks another milestone in KAPSOM’s journey toward a green and carbon-free future, following the successful delivery of the world’s first green ammonia production plant. Moving forward, KAPSOM remains committed to advancing zero-carbon technologies, deepening its technical expertise, and driving the implementation of more large-scale projects. These efforts aim to contribute to global energy transition and sustainable development.
