Recently, KAPSOM R&D team has achieved another success as their application for the “Optimized Radial Ammonia Synthesis Reactor” has been granted authorization by the National Intellectual Property Administration, with patent number ZL 2023 2 3213868.3.
Ammonia, as a cornerstone industry in the chemical sector, is renowned for its high production output and energy-intensive nature. Therefore, ammonia synthesis reactors must meet the requirements of high efficiency and optimized resource utilization in their processes. Currently, widely used in the market, radial flow synthesis ammonia reactors primarily feature a cylindrical shell structure. However, due to design constraints, these reactors result in short residence times and uneven distribution of reactant gases within the catalyst layer, leading to insufficient contact between reactant gases and catalysts and thereby impacting the overall reaction efficiency of the reactor.
To address this technical challenge, the KAPSOM R&D team has designed an innovative radial ammonia synthesis reactor. This reactor features a bell-shaped enclosed box-like shell, equipped with key components such as a catalyst layer, inner tube, distribution plate, and flow guide plate. By ingeniously configuring the distribution plate and flow guide plate, it significantly increases the contact time and area between the reactant gases and the catalyst layer, thereby enhancing reaction efficiency. Simultaneously, the design includes a sandwiched channel between the inner tube and outlet pipe to utilize the residual heat from the reactant gases, further elevating the temperature of the catalyst layer and optimizing both reaction efficiency and energy consumption benefits.
KAPSOM has always adhered to the principle of balancing innovation with quality. The recent acquisition of a national utility model patent certificate fully demonstrates KAPSOM’s relentless efforts in technological innovation and reform. Looking ahead, we will continue to increase investment in research and development, deepen technological innovation, and deliver more high-quality, high-value products and services to the green energy industry.
